Chakka avial

During the season where chakka or jackfruit is available aplenty, think up of unique ways to cook this wonderful fruit. The traditional avial becomes all the more delicious when cooked with jackfruit and mangoes. You'll agree if you try this!

Ingredients

1 cup raw jackfruit flesh cut into long pieces
½ cup jackfruit seeds cut into quarters
16 pieces of drumstick, two-inch each
2 cups yellow cucumber, cut into one-inch pieces
2 cups snake gourd, cut into one-inch pieces
Diced mango pieces, as required
6 green chillies, split
1 tsp red chilli powder
½ tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste
2 cups grated coconut
A pinch of jeera
3 shallots
1 dsp coconut oil
A bunch of curry leaves

Preparation

In a pan, add drumstick pieces, yellow cucumber,
snake gourd, jackfruit pieces,
jackfruit seeds, raw mango pieces, green chillies, turmeric powder, chilli powder, curry leaves and salt
Add enough water to boil the vegetables
Mix all the ingredients well inside the pan
Put the lid on, and cook for a while
Grind coarsely coconut, jeera and shallots
Add the ground mixture to the cooked vegetables
Add curry leaves
Drizzle coconut oil on it 
Mix it well
Delicious chakka aviyal is ready to be served
