At the function, Vaishnav, who set social media ablaze with his distinct renditions, finally accomplished the dream of his life -- to meet music legend A R Rahman and perform before him.
After singing hit songs including 'Uyire', 'Dil Se', 'Aaromale', Vaishnav said, “Everyone has a dream to meet God and I met my God.”

Meanwhile, AR Rahman also chose to speak a few words about Vaishnav. “I think he was great, just that the choice of songs were not right for the audience. God bless you,” he said.
The event was organized as a tribute to Rahman and Vijay, who have completed 25 years in their glittering careers.
Mersal, directed by Atlee Kumar and featuring Vijay in the lead, is slated to hit screens this Diwali.
