Vadakara: It was a dream-come-true for Akhil Raj as noted film directed Sathyan Anthikad came calling to his residence to receive a copy of his untitled screenplay.
The youngster, who spends a great deal of time reading and writing despite being affected by Cerebral Palsy, a condition caused due to damage to the brain, was visibly elated over his favourite director’s visit on Friday.
Sathyan, who keeps a style of working by naming his movies only after the competition of shooting, will have to find a suitable title for Akhil’s script.
Akhil has written stories such as Nakshathrangale Thedi (In search of stars), Mazha Nananju (In the rain), and Manasu Hiroshimayakumbol (When the mind becomes Hiroshima), and has always been a great admirer of Sathyan Anthikad and his movies.
Ask him about his source of motivation for writing and Akhil says: “It was Sathyan sir’s movies that inspired me to write my first screenplay. Also, it had been a long-cherished dream to hand over a copy of my first screenplay to him.
The simple but graceful event was the result of the untiring efforts of two social activists from the area, Manalil Mohanan and Harsha Prakash.
“When we narrated the story of Akhil to Sathyan, he agreed immediately to come and meet him, much to our surprise,” they said after the function held at the Pulikoolthazha Vayalil Veettil on the Park Road.
Sathyan returned after giving Akhil tips on storytelling and encouraging the youngster to write more positive stories.
