Actor Rajisha Vijayan, who won the best actress award at the Kerala State Film Awards 2016, said Tuesday that she could not believe it yet.
“I did not even know that I was nominated. People started calling me up this morning saying that there are reports that I might win the award. I could believe it only when the announcement came,” Rajisha told reporters.
She won the award for her role as Elizabeth, who is called as Eli, in the film Anuraga Karikkin Vellam.
The fact that she won the award for her debut film made it extra special for Rajisha.
“I am very happy, this was least expected. State Film Awards is the biggest honor in Kerala and I did not even think in my dreams that I would win it for my debut film,” she added.
Rajisha said the entire credit goes to the movie's director Khalid Rahman.
“This was a movie made by newcomers and the courage shown by August Cinemas led by actor Prithviraj is commendable. I also thank the entire cast and crew of the film,” Rasjisha said.
She also thanked her parents for supporting her.
