Within a week of release, 'Leela' uploaded on Facebook Screen grab from the video

Kottayam: In an unheard of incident, movie pirates took piracy to a whole new level by uploading Malayalam movie Leela on Facebook.

The movie, which was released on Friday, was uploaded on a Facebook page called SaltMangoTree on Tuesday.

It is believed that the movie was downloaded from Internet as it was released online abroad.

Unni R told Onmanorama that they have lodged a complaint with the cyber cell on the issue. "We don't know who all are behind uploading the pirated version of the movie on internet. But they will be arrested soon.

Unni and Biju Menon

Unni alleged that there were planned attempts by vested interests to make the film a flop. He said vested interests were pouring in money and liquor to sabotage the film which is becoming a hit.

There were disputes between Ranjith, who is also the producer of the film, and the producers' association over the release of Leela.

The Biju Menon-starrer, directed by Ranjith, is an adaptation of Unni. R's short story of the same name.
