Mumbai: Superstar Aamir Khan, who is in the thick of a controversy over his remarks on intolerance, has no plans to move his wife and son out of Mumbai for a few days out of concern over their safety, according to a source close to the actor.

"No, please don't pay attention to rumours," a source close to Aamir said when asked about reports in this regard.

Aamir has resumed shooting for his film Dangal in Ludhiana while his filmmaker wife Kiran is very much in Mumbai, the source said.

The actor's comments have drawn flak from the BJP as well as some Bollywood celebrities and activists of little known right wing outfit Hindu Sena on Wednesday staged a protest in front of his residence at Bandra here.

"He (Aamir) is in Ludhiana shooting for his upcoming film Dangal. He will be there for a few days," the source said.

"She (Kiran) is here," the source added without giving any further details.

The 50-year-old actor is in the midst of a raging debate after he said that his wife had suggested moving abroad owing to sense of despondency and disquiet.

"Kiran and I have lived all our lives in India. For the first time, she said, should we move out of India? That's a disastrous and big statement for Kiran to make to me," Aamir had said.

"She fears for her child. She fears about what the atmosphere around us will be. She feels scared to open the newspapers every day. That does indicate that there is a sense of growing disquiet," he had said.
