In a candid chat with ‘Kallayikadavathu’ which airs on Manorama News, Harish Kanaran opened up about how he wooed his wife. Actor Harish Kanaran who conquered the Malayali audience’s hearts with his unique style of humor has become an indispensable part of Malayalam cinema. The actor, who rose to fame through mimicry, grabbed the attention of the movie lovers with the perfect timing in humor and dialogue delivery in his quintessential Kozhikode slang.
In a candid chat with ‘Kallayikadavathu’ which airs on Manorama News, Harish Kanaran opened up about how he wooed his wife. “I didn’t pass SSLC as I was too much passionate about acting. Since I had no intention to re appear for the exam, I began to do odd jobs like painting. At that time I was obsessed with film operation which I happened to see in a talkie.
So I learned it for a year. But later I realized that I had to pass SSLC to obtain its license. So I joined a tuition center to appear for the SSLC again. It was there I met a young girl who was in class ten. I fell for her at the first sight itself. I didn’t think much and immediately proposed to her,” says the actor.
Harish added that his friends had tried to dissuade him from pursuing his love saying that the girl belonged to a well to do family. Besides, the girl was not responding to his frequent proposals even after six months. However Harish was not ready to easily give up and came up with a new ‘threat’.
He says, “I told her I would stop coming to the tuition center and promised that I will not bother her anymore. I also told that I was dropping my plans to reappear for the SSLC exam. I think she fell for it and confessed that she too was in love with me. So after courting each other for ten long years, I married her.” Harish Kanaran recalled an interesting chapter in his life in one of the episodes of the program in which national award winning actress Surabhi too took part.
