RS Vimal at Sabarimala with script of 'Mahavir Karna' The director prayed before the deity at Sabarimala and sought blessings for the movie.

Director RS Vimal, who is all set to make the mega budget movie, Mahavir Karna, featuring Kollywood superstar Vikram visited the Sabarimala shrine with the script of his upcoming movie. The director prayed before the deity and sought blessings for the movie.

The Ennu Ninte Moideen director had earlier told in an interview that he had rewritten the script of Mahavir Karna eight times in the last two years. The movie which will reportedly go on the floors in October will have Ramoji Rao Film City in Hyderabad, Jaipur and Canada as the major locations.

The film Karnan was announced as a big budget Malayalam movie three years ago with young actor Prithviraj in the lead role. But the movie was said to have been shelved after the producer and the lead actor backed out of the project.

However, the director sprung a surprise with the announcement of Mahavir Karna with Tamil star Vikram in the lead. The film maker has announced that the movie will be released in Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi, besides dubbing into 32 different languages.

The movie which is expected to be made on a whopping 300 crore rupees will be one of the most expensive movies ever produced in India.

The pre-production works of the film, bankrolled by a New York-based United Film Kingdom, are underway.

In one of the interviews with Manorama Online, RS Vimal said, “Mahavir Karna is a movie with an international appeal, with Mahabharata as the central theme. In fact, the story of Mahabharata is presented through Karnan. This movie has absolutely no connection with Kerala. Karnan was supposed to be a small project in Malayalam, but the new one will be entirely different. I have decided to make this movie in an international sphere after considering the interest of the producer. Besides Vikram, actors from Bollywood and technicians from Hollywood would collaborate in this project. The details of other actors and technicians will be revealed later.”

The film-maker added that Mahair Karna was not the project that was announced to be made in Malayalam. RS Vimal said that the new project, his magnum opus, is entirely different project with an international appeal.
