Its official! Megastar Mammootty is returning as Bilal John Kurisinkal, the character of 2007 film Big B that is synonymous with style and swagger. Director Amal Neerad has made the official announcement of Bilal through a Facebook post and has even shared the sequel’s first look poster. The sequel to Amal’s Big B is slated to hit the theaters in 2018.
Big B opened a different cinematic experience for the Malayali audience with its unique narration and incredible cinematography. The movie told the story of four brothers and their foster mother in the beautiful backdrop of Kochi. When the movie which was released a decade ago finally gets a sequel, Malayalam cinema too has changed a lot.
It is not known whether the old crew of Big B would be making a comeback in Bilal as well. There is no clarity whether Mammootty has even assigned his available dates for the filming of Bilal.
Meanwhile, Dulquer Salman’s Facebook post in which he calls Big B as one of his 'all time greatest films' has gone viral. The young actor has even said that film was the 'definition of style in Malayalam cinema.'
Amal Neerad made his entry to filmdom as a young cinematographer in Bollywood with Ram Gopal Varma before he brought out Big B. But the action thriller earned mixed response from the audience. The music was composed by Alphonse while the back ground score was done by Gopi Sundar. Smeer Thahir wielded the camera while the dialogues were penned by Unni R.
Meanwhile, grape vine has it Dulquer may have a cameo role in Bilal. But there is no official clarification about it from the makers.
