Dileep’s Ramaleela directed by Arun Gopi is running successfully across the theaters in Kerala. After watching his movie in Saritha theater, Ernakulam, director Arun Gopi and producer Tomichan Mulakuppadam visited Dileep in Aluva sub jail, where he has been lodged since his arrest in February 17 actress attack.
Dileep apparently broke down on knowing the positive response for his movie. “We reached the jail before 4 pm, the visiting hour. After going through all prison the formalities, we finally met Dileepettan. We told him about how audience has accepted his movie whole-heartedly. He listened to us and hugged me,” said Arun Gopi in an exclusive interview to Manorama Online, I, Me, Myself.
Arun also said, “After talking for a while, Dileepettan went silent. There was a strange mood, I can’t really explain it. After sometime, Dileepettan told me 'God knows I have not committed anything wrong'. He knows the truth and I am not behind this. The victory of Ramaleela is because of this.”
This is the first time that a Malayalam movie is released in Kerala, while the lead actor is in jail.
Ramaleela, which throws up eerie coincidences with the actor's own life, is an intensely-thought out politico-crime thriller.
Talking about the reel and real life connection of Ramaleela, Arun said, “Even when we watched the movie, we ourselves were surprised with the eerie coincidence it had with the ongoing case. The movie was written much before by Sachy and nobody ever thought such things will really happen to Dileepettan in his real life.”
Dileep was arrested on July 10 for hiring goons to assault the actress and videptape the crime. Dileep has repeatedly denied the conspiracy allegations.
