It's Mother's Day, and Malayalam actress Manju Warrier tells us how her amma helped her become the person she is today.
I have seen different and distinguishing qualities of my mother’s characteristics. When I was a child, she used to force me to attend dance classes ignoring my whining. But when I went on to become an artiste and people around me celebrated my achievements, she always chose to express her happiness with a contented smile.
Drenched in the many waves of her love
She wore that little smile even during her frequent visits to hospitals for undergoing treatment for cancer. When she returned home after months of hospitalization, she ignored chronic nausea caused by the radiation therapy and the advice to rest up to cook for my father!
During those testing times too, she never failed to prepare garlands and offer them to the nearby temple.
This Mother's Day, dish it out the way she loves it
My mother is a brave person, who fought cancer and walked back to life. When my father was also diagnosed with the disease, she took care of him like a little kid.
Now, she is fully enjoying her life, learning music and attending the Art of Living classes both as a student and a trainer.
If not for my mother and her ‘stubbornness’, I would not be where I am today.
It is the image of her smiling from the hospital bed despite being in too much pain and losing all her hair that inspired me to face the challenges in my life confidently and courageously.
I am fully aware that if I could achieve anything in life, it is not because of my talent or hardwork. My life is a gift of my mother.
