In a major relief to passengers who travel on the Nilambur-Kochuveli Rajya Rani Express to visit the Regional Cancer Center (RCC) in Thiruvananthapuram, the train has been extended to Nagercoil from March 1. The express train would run service as a connection train from Kochuveli to Nagercoil via Thiruvananthapuram. Earlier, the Thiruvananthapuram-bound passengers of the express train had to disembark at Kochuveli and board a bus or hail an auto to reach Thiruvananthapuram, which was close to 8 km from the Kochuveli railway station. With the extension of the train service, the passengers can travel straight to Thiruvananthapuram and Nagercoil, and back.
Change in timings
As per reports, from TVM to Nagercoil, the Rajya Rani will run as an unreserved train. Passengers can also travel from Nagercoil via TVM Central to Kochuveli and from there to Nilambur. There is also a change in timing. As per the new timing, the train will arrive at Kochuveli at 5.30 am and depart from there at 6.30 am. It will reach TVM Central at 6.45 am and Nagercoil at 8.55 am. It will depart from Nagercoil to Nilambur at 6.20 pm and reach TVM Central at 7.55 pm. It will arrive at Kochuveli at 8.20 pm and depart for Nilambur at 9 pm.
The Kochuveli – Nilambur (16349) and Nilambur – Kochuveli (16350) Express are the trains extended to Nagercoil. From Kochuvelii to Nagercoil (06428/06433) it would run as an unreserved express. When you reserve tickets to Thiruvananthapuram, though it would show as Kochuveli, you can still travel to Thiruvananthapuram.
