Thiruvananthapuram: In a gruesome incident, a 65-year-old woman died after she was brutally attacked by 50 stray dogs near Pulluvila beach in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday night.
Around 9.00 pm on Friday, Sheeluamma had gone to the seafront to use a toilet, when she was attacked by dogs in the coastal village Pulluvilla, about 10 kms away from the state secretariat. When she didn't return after a while, her son Selvaraj went looking for her and found some dogs attacking Sheeluamma. Selvaraj tried to chase away the dogs but got injured in the attempt. He had to dive into the sea to save himself from the dogs.

Though she was rushed to the Medical College Hospital, Sheeluamma's life could not be saved.
'Are we inferior to dogs?'
Angry relatives and residents of the area have blamed the city authority for her death.

"We have lost all our patience as the authorities are hanging on to some obscure law which says dogs cannot be eliminated. Are we inferior to these dogs?" asked a group of angry residents in Pulluvilla.

In a separate incident, another native of Pulluvila, Daisy, was grievously injured in stray dog attack. She has been admitted to the Medical College Hospital.
