Kochi: Malayalam actor Sagar Shiyas, who attained popularity through mimicry shows and parody cassettes, passed away Thursday.

He breathed his last at a private hospital in Chottanikkara around 8.30 pm Thursday. He was 51.

A native of Muvattupuzha, Shiyas was undergoing treatment for liver-related ailments at the hospital for the past 10 days.

Coming from mimicry background, Shiyas had acted in several movies and was active in the industry for the past 25 years. He was noted for his roles in Manjadikkuru, Bangalore Days, Junior Mandrake and Kannadikadavath.

He had last acted in 2015 Malayalam film Amar Akbar Anthony, directed by his friend from mimicry Nadirshah.

Sagar Shiyas was the first mimicry artiste in Kerala to mimic Rajinikanth. In an interview, Shiyas had said that he was a great fan of the Tamil Superstar.

Sagar Shiyas is survived by his wife Shiny and three children.
