Palakkad: Excise commissioner Rishiraj Singh on Friday ordered closure of a beer parlor that functioned by violating the license rules. A case will be slapped on the licensee as well.
The illegal sale of beer in hotel Sree Chakra near Chandranagar came to light during a lightning raid conducted by the excise commissioner.
Though the hotel had license to sell beer in the ground floor, the hotel was found serving the beer in the upper floor as well. A case was also registered against the licensee in this regard.
The excise commissioner had conducted inspection in two other beer parlors; one near district hospital and the other near Kottamaidanam Vaadi. However, no violation of rule was found in those parlors.
