Kochi: Ola, a mobile app for transportation, on Thursday announced the launch of auto-rickshaws on its platform in Kochi.
As an aggregator of auto-rickshaws, Ola’s service is now available in two cities in Kerala and 71 cities across the country.
Ola autos are available in Kochi at just Rs5 per kilometre with a base fare Rs25 and a ride time charge of Re1/minute. Night charges would be 1.25 times the normal fare.
Customers in Kochi will now be able to book auto-rickshaws straight from the ‘Auto’ category on the Ola app. With an assurance of travelling at metered-fares, customers stand to get a consistent experience on every ride. They can track their rides on the app and also share their ride details in real-time on a live map with friends and family. Additionally, they will also get a system-generated bill immediately on completion over SMS.
“We are delighted to bring auto-rickshaws on the Ola app in Kochi. This will make auto rides comfortable, convenient and hassle-free for residents and tourist population alike,” said Sundeep Sahni, vice-president of new initiatives.
“This will also create a better earning opportunity for auto driver-partners on the Ola platform giving them access to consistent demand and better revenue throughout the day,” he added.
