Kannur: The funeral of former union minister and IUML leader E Ahamed, MP, who died following a cardiac arrest in New Delhi, was held with full state honors in Kannur on Thursday.
Senior leaders, prominent personalities and thousands of people were present at the City Juma Masjid Kabristan. As a mark of respect to the veteran politician, an all-party hartal was observed in Kannur and Mahe.

The 78-year-old passed away at RML Hospital in Delhi on Wednesday. He was rushed there after he suffered a cardiac arrest during the president's address to the joint session of Parliament Tuesday. Ahamed was a Lok Sabha MP from Malappuram.
Prime minister Narendra Modi, vice-president Hamid Ansari, home minister Rajnath Singh and other top leaders paid homage to former the union minister at his residence in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan too condoled the death, saying Ahamed always upheld secular values.
