Kottayam: Malayalam film actor V.D. Rajappan passed away on Thursday. He was 70.
He was suffering from various age-related ailments and breathed his last in Kottayam. His funeral will be held on Friday afternoon at his native place.
Known mostly for his comedic roles, Rajappan made his debut on the silver screen with the Malayalam movie Kattupottu. He began his career on stage as a Kadhaprasangam artist in 1969.

Rajappan, who acted in over 50 Malayalam movies, was known for his unique style of presenting 'Kadhaprasangam' in a satirical manner. He was the centre of attraction at festival grounds in Kerala at the peak of his career in 1970s and 80s.

His memorable comedy 'Kadhaprasangams' include 'Kumari Eruma', 'Mak Mak', 'Priye Ninte Kura', 'Amittu', 'Pothu Puthri' and 'Ennennum Kurangettandeh.'
He is best known for his roles in Kusurthikattu, Engane Nee Marakum and Panchavadi Palam, among others.
He has acted in more than 100 films. His last movie was Alibaba Arara kallanmarum.
