In 2014, Jishnu had posted in his Twitter account that he had survived cancer. However, unconfirmed reports hinted at a relapse and a photo in which he looked frail and sickly had gone viral last November.

Jishnu was married to Dhanya Rajan, who is an architect by profession.

Malayalam cinema had been losing a host of popular actors during the past two months. Actors Kalpana, Kalabhavan Mani, poet ONV Kurup and young musician Shan Johnson were a few who bid adieu to the art world.
