Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has hiked the minimum ticket fare from Rs 6 to Rs 7.
The minimum ticket fare in private buses is already Rs 7.
The state-run corporation had cut the minimum fare for its ordinary services by a rupee to Rs 6 during the previous UDF government's tenure.
Meanwhile, a meeting between transport minister A.K. Saseendran and private bus operators failed to reach a consensus on a hike in ticket fares.
The bus owners are demanding a hike in minimum fare to Rs 9, but the government is not willing to budge.
The private bus operators said that they would go on strike soon if the ticket rates are not hiked.
