Kerala Law Academy's compound wall demolished Kerala Law Academy's compound wall demolished

Thiruvananthapuram: The revenue department on Sunday demolished the Kerala Law Academy's compound wall that was built on government land.

Revenue principal secretary P.H. Kurian had earlier submitted a report, stating that the academy had built its main gate and the road that leads to the college on a stretch that belongs to the Kerala Water Authority. The revenue department had on Friday served a notice to the academy, allotting it 24 hours to dismantle the disputed structures.

The college management had pulled down the gates on Saturday morning, but did not remove the compound wall. The revenue department will claim the expenses for the demolition of the compound wall from the academy later.

However, the revenue department will wait for the management's explanation on the legality of letting a bank branch and restaurant functioning out of the campus before taking any action on it.
