Thiruvananthapuram: Eminent Malayalam writer and filmmaker C. Radhakrishnan has been chosen for this year’s Ezhuthachan award for his contributions to the literary field.
The award comprises a purse of Rs 1.5 lakh, a citation and plaque.
'Munpe parakkunna pakshikal', a novel based on the Naxalite movement is one of the most-read novels by him. He won Sahitya Akademi award for the novel 'Spandamapinikale nandi' (1989) and Kerala Sahitya Akademi award for Nizhalpadukal (1969).
Apart from novels, he authored several short stories and directed four films - Agni, Kanalattam, Pushyaragam and Ottayadippathakal.
He was born in Chamravattom in Ponnani taluk in Malappuram district on February 15, 1939.
