Kochi: Biju Radhakrishnan, the key accused in the solar scam who was granted permission to personally cross-examine his accomplice Saritha S. Nair, would not be able to attend the proceedings posted on January 28 as two local courts have issued Production Transit (PT) warrant directing the Poojappura Central Jail authorities to produce him before them on the same day.
The production warrants from the Judicial Magistrate Court, Kozhikode, and the Magistrate Court, Thalassery, were received on Saturday. The jail superintendent informed Biju about the warrants and spoke to him about two hours regarding the legal procedures, it is learnt.
The G. Sivarajan Commission inquiring into the multi-crore scam had earlier permitted Biju to cross-examine Saritha, who was ordered to appear before the court on January 27 and 28. Biju was allowed to personally cross-examine her on January 28.
The Commission had earlier dismissed Biju’s plea to permit him to cross-examine Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, who will be appearing before the Commission today.
However, the court has permitted Biju’s lawyer to pose questions to the chief minister if the latter mentions Biju’s name while tendering evidence in the case.
