Malappuram: The probe into the Malappuram Collectorate blast has further intensified the suspicion that banned terror outfit Al Ummah's leader was behind the act.
A special team of the Kerala police conducted raids at Tamil Nadu native Abubacker Siddique's house in Nagapattinam. His wife informed the police that he was not in touch with the family.
Police suspect that the low-intensity blasts at both Malappuram and Kollam collectorates were orchestrated by the terror leader using chemicals such as ammonium nitrate, Manorama News reported on Friday.

It is suspected that the 55-year-old Siddique hatched the conspiracy from Saudi and that the ammonium nitrate was procured from Udupi in Karnataka.

Al Ummah, which was banned following the Coimbatore blast series, is suspected to have regrouped as 'The Base Movement'.
During a search after the blast in Malappuram, police had found a small cardboard box with the words 'The Base Movement' written on top. The box had a number of pamphlets and a pen drive in it.
