Jose K Mani’s wife joins #MeToo campaign, reveals she was abused by politician’s son Nisha Jose, wife of Kottayam MP Jose K Mani, made the revelations in her memoir 'The Other Side of This Life'.

Kottayam: Joining the 'Me Too' campaign, Nisha Jose, the wife of Kottayam MP Jose K Mani, claimed that she was harassed by the son of a senior politician from the state during a train journey.

The incident happened during her short travel from Thiruvananthapuram to Kottayam, she revealed in her memoir ‘The Other Side of This Life’. Though Nisha did not reveal the man’s identity, she gave several hints.

Nisha claimed in the book she had met the politician's son when she was alone at the Thiruvananthapuram railway station late in the night. The youth introduced himself taking his father's name. He told her that he had come to the city to visit his father-in-law, who was undergoing treatment in a hospital following an accident.

When they boarded the train, the man sat next to her and continued talking. As she found it irritating, she complained to TTE, but he washed his hands off the unsavoury situation saying that if the man was like his father he was scared to intervene. "Since you belong to the same political front, I will land in trouble," the TTE had said as claimed in the memoir.

When Nisha returned to her seat, the man kept on talking and even touched her feet a few times. Finally, Nisha firmly told him to leave and informed her husband once she reached home, she wrote.

The book also mentioned a Youth Congress functionary from Kottayam. Nisha, who calls him sarcastically as 'hero' in the book, claimed he had spread stories against her. She also claimed there are audio clips wherein 'the hero' could be heard speaking against his own leader. Though his identity has not been revealed, there are enough hints as to whom she was talking about.

The book also referred to the bar bribery case and solar scam in which her family members were dragged in and the problems they had created in the family.

The memoir was released by Aswathi Thirunal Gowri Lakshmi Bai, a member of the erstwhile Travancore royal family . KM Mani's wife Kuttiyamma and Nisha's mother Rosy John received the first copy. KM Mani and Jose K Mani were also present.

The #MeToo social media movement made waves on the internet recently with hundreds of women coming forward to share stories of assault and harassment.
