There were only a few customers in the coffee shop. They had come to the coffee shop to carry out business transactions. Cappuccino and Long Island iced tea were just accompaniments.
This is the new trend in business, which seems to have migrated from five-star settings to more middle-class levels. Even industry majors Reliance and Tata are migrating to less gaudy settings to transact their daily businesses. Mark Zuckerberg, who runs a company with a vaulation of more than $100 billion, wears only jeans and T-shirts, and that too only blue.
Only when he has to meet head of states does he shift to his coat. Even the changing dress sense of new generation business honchos has virtually stunned the old-school conservative businessmen.
While the old business style was to flaunt luxury in order to impress, the new style is to go minimalistic, with the focus only on the work to be executed. In fact big businesses have now condescended to the level of new generation business leaders because it is ultimately the deal that matters.
Many businesses now do not have posh offices and therefore meetings are often scheduled in posh coffee shops. Another place to meet such business persons would be their homes. Since all businesses are virtual, their offices too are virtual. The same is the case with many incubators where facilities are minimal.
There would be someone to advice on funding and marketing. The paraphernalia is bare minimum. More than the paraphernalia, it is the generation of wealth creation ideas that matters. Pitching or putting forth the right ideas with a firm rationale to investors is also a key factor.
