There is a baffling paradox about the popular serials – the anti-heroines often outclass the heroines, albeit for the wrong reasons! Pratheeksha, a popular actress in Malayalam television serials is no different. She is one of those actors who evoke an instant hatred among the womenfolk. Whenever her face appeared on the TV screens, the female folk in the household across Kerala used to scream unanimously: “Here comes the witch again to trouble that poor innocent girl!”

Nevertheless, in real life, Pratheeksha is not a baddie at all. She is just like those gentle and pleasant girls you find in your neighborhood. Pratheeksha was also is Manorama’s model of the week.

Tharotsavam and the unexpected casting call

For Pratheeksha G Pradeep, a native of Pathanamthitta, acting was never a career option. At least till she decided to watch a programme called 'Tharotsavam.' She got acquainted with a serial actor named Sajan Soorya, and that was the turning point. As the friendship grew, she told him about her desire to act. Besides, she got a chance to perform dance and sing at the 'Tharotsavam' fest.

Days passed, and one day she got a casting call from the crew of ‘Amma’ serial. At that time, Pratheeksha was doing her plus two course. She was selected for the role of anti-heroine in the serial. Her character ‘Meenakshi’ indeed made a mark.

Rise to stardom through a negative role

The serial was a super hit. And Pratheeksha's anti-heroine made such an impact that women who followed the serial began nurturing an antipathy towards such a baddie. Pratheeksha was surprised when she saw some women staring at her during a visit to the temple. “It is that baddie girl in the Amma serial… we don’t want to see her!” they murmured among themselves. They observed her closely and found that the real Pratheeksha was a lot different than her onscreen persona.

Slowly they approached her and began to talk. In a while, they became thick friends and the old women expressed their admiration for her with warm hugs. Pratheeksha still does not know how she could make such an impact on the audience. “I have done what the director asked me to. That’s all!” she confesses. Even her family members wondered how a quiet girl like her could portray such a baddie!

Many remarkable roles followed ‘Meenakshi.’ She acted in serials like Pranayam, Chavara Achan and Atma Sakhi. The role in Atma Sakhi telecast by Mazhavil Manorama is not a baddie in fact, but an accomplice of the baddie.Keen on her studies, Pratheeksha also pursues her B.Tech along with acting.

The Big Screen calls!

Pratheeksha, who loves to listen to music and dance, has been approached by a couple of filmmakers for their upcoming projects. There is all possibility that we may see her on the big screen in the near future.

The charming girl, who loves cooking, has no particular liking for any special dishes. Red frock is her favorite attire. She also likes to wear many varieties of tops.
