The Indian Premier League (IPL) has witnessed some stunning catches, but Kiwi pacer Trent Boult took fielding to another level as he pulled off an incredible catch to send back Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli in their match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday night.
Chasing a target of 175, Kohli had moved to 30 when he flicked a ball from Delhi Daredevils seamer Harshal Patel and the ball flew to Boult at deep square leg. Boult, a left-hander, pulled out his right hand and plucked the ball out of thin air. The astonishing feature of this effort was that Boult somehow managed to stay in the field of play and not touch the boundary rope. Kohli walked off in disbelief even as Daredevils captain Gautam Gambhir and the rest of the teammates rushed in to congratulate Boult.
Former England captain Michael Vaughan termed it as the greatest ever catch.
However, Boult's splendid effort was not enough to to stop the RCB from winning the game as AB de Villiers' magnificent unbeaten 39-ball 90 took the hosts home with two overs to spare.
