Kochi: Kerala Blasters' Dutch forward Mark Sifneos has left the ISL franchise, Manorama News reported Tuesday.
The 19-year-old had scored Blasters' first goal this season in the game against Mumbai City FC.
Sifneos, who was handpicked by coach René Meulensteen, had featured in all the 12 games the Blasters have played so far.
Sifneos, who came on as a substitute in the first two matches against ATK and Jamshedpur FC, impressed Meulensteen and the Dutchman had no hesitation in picking him in the starting line-up against Mumbai in place of Canadian Iain Hume, the all-time top-scorer in the ISL.
Meulensteen had parted ways with Blasters after their poor start to the season.
Sifneos is also the team's joint top-scorer along with Hume with four goals. He also had the distinction of notching up the hundredth goal of this ISL when he netted the equalizer against FC Pune City in Kochi.
The Blasters team management thanked Sifneos for his contributions. Sifneos was the youngest foreigner to be roped in by an ISL franchise.
With star forward Dimitar Berbatov on the sidelines, the departure of Sifneos is a big blow for Blasters. The Yellow Brigade are lying in seventh place in the 10-team league with just 14 points from 12 matches.
