Thiruvananthapuram: Veteran director Jayaraj's multi-lingual Veeram has been withdrawn from the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) that would be held from December 9 to 16 here.
The film, an adaptation of William Shakespeare's Macbeth, was scheduled to be screened at the Malayalam Films Today section of the festival. Dileesh Pothen's Fahadh Faasil-starrer Maheshinte Prathikaram will be screened in the slot that was meant for Veeram.
Earlier, the producer of Veeram had written to the Chalachitra Akademy seeking to withdraw the film from the festival. The producer didn't want the film to be screened before its official release that has been postponed to January.
The delegate registration for the festival began Saturday. Delegates can register online till November 25.
