Sexy Durga After hours of long discussions following a special screening of the censored version of the film, jury acting chairman Rahul Rawal said he could not reveal the decision as the matter is sub judice: File photo

Panaji: With just one day until the culmination of the 48th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), the officials have chosen to remain silent on whether Malayalam film Sexy Durga would be screened at the festival or not.

After hours long discussions following a special screening for the Indian Panorama jury, acting chairman Rahul Rawail said the matter is subjudice and he could not reveal the decision the panel has taken. "The decision has been submitted to the I&B ministry. They will forward it to the court and you will get to know about it from the court," he said.

Reacting to the decision, director Sanal Kumar Sasidharan said the jury was making a mockery of judiciary. Rubbishing the claim that the matter was subjudice, he said they have either not read the judgment or understood it.

Quoting the judgment, he said the IFFI authorities were asked to screen the censored version before the jury and screen it in the Indian Panorama section.

He said now onwards filmmakers will understand that there's no point in making a film that questions power structures.
