Chicken and mutton stews find a special place on our dining tables during festivals and special occasions. Though not many may not have tried the beef stew, it is delicious and goes well with appam, roti or chapatti.
Ingredients
500 gm beef
200 gm potatoes
150 gm carrot
2 onions
Small piece of ginger
5 green chillies
4 cloves garlic
First and second extracts of milk from a coconut
1 large cinnamon stick
3 cloves
2 star anise
10 gm black pepper corns
2 bunches curry leaves
Coconut oil as required
Preparation
Cook the beef well by adding some salt
Cook the cubed carrots and potatoes
Heat oil in a pan and sauté the onions well
Add ginger and garlic and sauté
Into it add the cooked beef
Add the second extract of coconut milk
Add cinnamon, cloves, star anise and black pepper corns
When the gravy begins to thicken, add the first extract of the coconut milk
Taste for seasoning before taking the stew off the heat.
