Soon after resigning from the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), actor Salim Kumar has said that his decision was not a tactic to settle personal scores.

On Thursday, Malayalam superstar Mohanlal had taken part in LDF candidate Ganesh Kumar's campaign rally in Pathanapuram. "This is in violation of the unwritten law in AMMA that actors will not campaign in Pathanapuram, where all three candidates are actors," Salim Kumar had alleged.

Excerpts from the interview with Salim Kumar:

Did you complain to AMMA?

What is the point of complaining after the campaigning activities. Also, the same people who are responsible to take action have committed the error, then how can we hope for any action? As I couldn't witness all this, I chose to quit AMMA.

Did you speak to Jagadish about the issue?

Yes, I did. All three candidates are members of AMMA. So this is likely to hurt us.

Is your concern that a member flouted a rule set forth by AMMA?

Yes, exactly that. This is not about personal enmity or settling scores. When such rules are openly flouted, it means that there is no standing for what is said inside the organisation.

Did any of the office-bearers of AMMA contact you?

No, not yet.
