Yamuna YaamiAfter the success of two spectacular seasons, D4 Dance stage is ready to witness yet another colourful season on popular Malayalam channel Mazhavil Manorama. Expectations are riding high for D3 which will be launched on March 28.
As the show is about to kick-off in a few days, Onmanorama caught up with the show's producer Yamuna Yaami.
Launching an eventful 'D3'
Unlike the previous episodes, season 3 will have many new things. This time, we are planning to launch the dance reality show with a new concept. The third season will have a handful of power-packed performances with three types of competitions – solo, pair and group. The new format is done as a first time experimentation.
Usually we needed to handle only 10-20 contestants at a time but now there are about 200-300. The bigger the stage the bigger the challenges. Its true that the anticipation for the programme is very high and we do hope we meet everyone's expectation.

You need to wait till the first episode of this season goes on air. I can assure the suspense is worth the wait.
In the first two seasons, Govind Padmasoorya aka GP had given amazing time being a host. In fact for many I know GP had even been an addiction. It might take some time to accept someone else in place of GP, but I can ensure that the new host will be better than GP and everyone will love him like GP.
Initially we had Sreejith then we switched over to GP, same way we had Jewel Mary who was later replaced by Pearle Maaney. Now, I believe this choice too is just perfect. There is tension but at the same time it had been a challenge to find a new face which will appeal to viewers.

When we released the first promo video of D3, the new host even became a topic of discussion of various social media platforms.
Well, I must tell that one cannot compare GP and this new host. Both are unique and talented in their own way. Even during training the new male host, I used to tell him to keep his own style and very confidently he did everything.

It really feels great to have come this far. People have accepted the first two seasons, I believe this season will also find some great talents for the future. While the first season had a really good bunch of contestants, the second season focused more on technical perfection and talent.
This season too we have participants from varying backgrounds who have got many stories to tell. With the show going places, D3 have participants from Mumbai, Dubai, Delhi, Gujarat, Goa etc.
The real Yamuna
At the age of 22, I began my career as an assistant programme producer. Then by 24, I was hired as a junior producer for a dance reality show for a Malayalam channel and soon ventured into various projects. Not much later I joined Mazhavil Manorama for D4 Dance. This is my 10th reality show.
Although I belong to Kottayam, we are settled in Thiruvananthapuram.
Passion plays
During my initial days, I had to struggle a lot in my career. Little exposure did I had during my school and college days. I could not even get an admission for journalism and later did a visual media course. Realizing that it was where I belonged to, I began searching for job. There were struggles at different phases of life, but it was the passion that drove me. I am always attached to each of my projects and thus know what work and what not.
Everyone used to tell me one ought to have a commanding power to excel in this field. On the sets, I had complete freedom.
Definitely, as a woman there have been limitations during my professional life, but I have been positive, learning the ways to survive.
