When Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor announced her wedding to businessman-designer Anand Ahuja, many were surprised as how the star chose someone outside the film industry.
A recent column in IANS stated that actresses prefer non-actors as husbands because they don't want to be reminded of all their (the husband's and their own) affairs and to that extent Sonam couldn't have chosen better.
Well, it's not only Sonam Kapoor who has chosen to marry outside the film industry. Today, Onmanorama brings you a list of such Mollywood actresses:
1. Priyamani
Priyamani got married on 23 August 2017 to businessman Mustafa Raj. Mustafa is an industrialist from Mumbai and have various other ventures all over India. Priyamani met Mustafa during the Celebrity Cricket League matches where she was the brand ambassador for one of the participating teams and started dating each other before tying the knot.
2. Asin
Asin tied the knot with the Micromax founder in a Christian wedding ceremony followed by Hindu rituals in Delhi on January 19, 2016. Interestingly, Asin-Rahul love story had quite a few similarities to the story in 'Ghajini', the superhit Suriya-Asin film. On Oct 25, 2017 the duo were blessed with a baby girl.
3. Navya Nair
Navya Nair married Mumbai-based businessman, Santhosh Menon, on 21 January 2010. Santosh Menon is the vice-president of a Mumbai-based corporate house. Apparently, he was chosen by Navya's parents and later, according to reports, the actress fell in love with him. They have a son Sai Krishna, born on 22 November, 2010.
4. Meera Jasmine
Meera got married to Anil John Titus, who works as a software engineer in Dubai, on 9 February 2014. After wedding, she moved to Dubai to stay with her husband.The actor who took a break, returned to the big screen with '10 Kalpanakal' in 2016.
5. Samvritha Sunil
Samvrutha Sunil got married to Akhil Jayaraj, a computer engineer working in the US, on 1 November 2012 at Kannur. She is now the mother of a five-year-old boy named Agastya.
6. Padmapriya
Actress Padmapriya tied the nuptial knot with software engineer Jasmine Shah on November 13, 2014. She met Shah in New York when both were pursuing their Masters from Columbia and New York University respectively. Shah works as Policy Head, South Asia, with Jamal Abdul Lateef Poverty Action Lab, based at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
7.Gopika
On 17 July 2008, Gopika married Ajilesh Chacko, a doctor working in Northern Ireland. She returned to the cinema industry after marriage, acting in 'Swantham Lekhakan' and 'Bharya Athra Pora'. They have a daughter Amy and a son Aiden. She now lives in Brisbane, Australia.
8. Shruti Menon
Actress Shruti Menon married her long-time friend and Mumbai-based businessman Sahil Timbadia on November 5,2017. The duo were dating before getting married.
9. Saranya Mohan
Sarnya got married to Trivandrum-based doctor Aravind Krishnan on September 6, 2015. It was purely an arranged marriage for the couple. Aravind Krishnan, who is a dentist by profession, is working as an assistant professor at Varkala Dental College. He also runs a dental clinic at Kovalam. The duo were blessed with a baby boy in August 2016.
