Having debuted as a child actor, Balu made a mark with Jean Paul Lal's 'Honey Bee' and its sequel. “Actor-director Lal is my uncle. When the crew of 'Chandupottu' laid down criteria to select a child artist to perform Indrajith's childhood, they wanted dimples as a prime feature. It was Lal uncle who suggested me. Though my complexion did not match with the character, my dimples took me to the silver-screen,” he said.

Not that I am a highly mature person in my real life but Prakashan is a rural youth of fifteen who is crazy about his love Ammukkutty. I haven't been that crazy for a girl in my life,” he said.
