Masterpiece, directed by Ajai Vasudev, is one of the most anticipated movies this time around for Malayalis who cherish good campus movies. The excitement is double as megastar Mammootty will be seen as a college professor after a long break. Mammootty looks dapper and extremely stylish in the recently released trailer and the songs are already a hit on Youtube.
Cinema lovers are eagerly awaiting the release of the film, but they have one more reason to cheer. Santhosh Pandit, the maverick filmmaker, will be seen in Masterpiece along with the megastar. This is the second time that Pandit, known for his unique film-making style, is acting in a different production other than his own.
Earlier, he did a blink-and-miss role in Oru Cinemakkaran. More details about his role in Masterpiece are not known, but his fans hope that it would be an interesting one. Santhosh Pandit was also seen in the movie’s trailer and songs. The actor even stole the limelight at the recently held audio launch of Masterpiece. When the anchor welcomed Santosh Pandit onto the stage, the audience received him with thunderous applause.
Santhosh Pandit had entered the venue of the audio launch after touching the feet of director Joshy who was an invited guest at the event. The audience went into a frenzy when Pandit took the microphone to share how thrilled he was to be part of a big budget movie like Masterpiece. Pandit said he had quit his job and sold his house to be part of Malayalam cinema.
He said, “I was even ready to wait till 2037 for such an incredible opportunity. I would have patiently waited until then by carrying on with my own production. I have often taken ingredients to my sets to cook there and provide food for everyone. It is only a small job just to be an actor in a movie. This is the first time that I reached a movie set with a relaxed and composed mind.”
Deepak Dev has tuned some amazing music for Masterpiece. Penned by screen writer Uday Karishna, the big budget movie is bankrolled by Muhammed Vadakara.
