Thripunithura: Pedal Force, an organization that promotes advantages of cycling, is all set to lead a mega cycle rally from Kochi to Munnar. The trip called Save Planet Cycle Rally begins early in the morning on December 14 from Thripunithura. The rally will cover various places in the Ernakulam and Idukki districts to reach Munnar by evening. The event is organized as part of Pedal Force's 3-year anniversary, in association with Munnar Ripple tea, petroleum conservation and research association, Leaf Resort Munnar and Munnar Destination Makers.
The Save Planet Cycle Rally is conducted to create awareness about how the frequent use of motor vehicles pose serious threat to the environment and also to promote cycling as an environment-friendly means of commute. The organization proposes constructions of cycle paths to make Kerala a cycle-friendly state.
The rally intends to spread the message that cycling could ensure conservation of fuel, economic progress and nature protection as well.
The accommodation facilities for the participants would be arranged at the Munnar Leaf resort. Pedal Force founder Joby Raju and coordinators B Swapna, Jovi John and Yadhu Krishna said that the rally which covers 250 kilometers in 2 days would return to Thripunithara next evening.
