Puja holidays are here and you are all set for a family trip. Here are some handy tips to make your vacation memorable.
Take it easy
Slow down. Do not plan a lot of activities or places to see into the itinerary. Remember, you are going with a child and that too to relax and rejuvenate. It is also a time to bond more with the young ones. Take them to the beach, the zoo or on a small trek.
Plan ahead
Involve the kids in the planning process. Ask them what they would like to see, show them pictures of places, they will enjoy it. Encourage them to read up on the places you are planning to go if they are big enough to read. Tell them about the places in advance builds an anticipation and enthusiasm for the trip.
Give them a camera
These days, children love playing with gadgets. Get them a cheap camera and allow them to take pictures. Pose for it. And if your kid is big enough help them make a scrapbook or an album online where they can store their pictures and what they saw. It will inspire them to travel more.
Get apps
Who does not have a smartphone or a tablet these days? Download the apps that the kids love. It will keep them occupied.
Something familiar
You are going to a new place. Make sure to pack your child's favorite toy or blankets.
Carry snacks
While traveling with kids, it is ideal to carry snacks. If you are in an unfamiliar place, it may be difficult to get your kid's favorite snack.
Plan activities/games
Plan games involving the young ones. Spring surprises when they are least expecting it. It will keep them busy. Play games like antakshari or words building while driving.
Use public transport
Even if you are driving down, make it a point to take a small train ride or a boat trip at the place you are visiting. Kids normally love it.
Pack the medicines
Make sure that you carry your kid's medication. If you are going on a long trip, ensure a visit to the doctor before you travel. If you are planning an overseas journey, ensure your medicine shots well in advance.
Involve older kids
Ask your teen about their preferences for a family trip, give them the responsibility of taking care of their younger siblings. Give them small chores.
