Ride through rural Goa
Hire a bike or car, drive away from the beaches and into the rural areas. They are just so calm and peaceful. Explore on your own – trust your instincts and not the guide books. That, in the long run, is the best way to discover a place.
Go for a trek in the hills
Trekking is not the first thing that will cross your mind when you think Goa, but there are some awesome trails that will suit even a beginner. A trek to Dudhsagar is the most popular and the toughest– but there are easier trails around Mollem, Sanguem or Valpoi.
Visit the caves
Arvalem caves or the Pandava caves about 9 kms from Bicholim, North Goa date back to the 6th century. It is said that the Pandavas sought refuge here during their exile. It is open from 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm.
Visit local markets
You can pick up a memento or two to take back home – but more than that you get a glimpse at local life in all its glory at these markets.
Visit ancient buildings
At almost every corner you come across some old significant monument in Goa. Old churches, monuments, and palatial homes are worth a visit. Don't miss a chance to visit these.
