The Ekstraklasa (Polish Premier League) football game between Legia Warsaw and Cracovia witnessed something unusual on Sunday.
With Cracovia leading 2-0, Warsaw had their defender William Remy sent off by the referee in the 74th minute after receiving a second yellow card. The French International was quick to march into the dressing room. However, his teammates requested the referee to check with VAR (video assistant referee) to get a clear cut answer.
The referee was able to get a closer look at the incident and Remy was then brought back onto the pitch from the dressing room. Thinking he got away with one, Remy was heading back with a smile to resume the action in the field. But, the referee was prepared not to let him go that easily. He cancelled out the second yellow card and produced a straight red!
Remy, who he stamped an opponent, will miss three league games rather than one.
Warsaw went on to lose their home match 0-2, with Javi Hernandez scoring both the goals for Cracovia.
