When the land costs a bomb, people often compromise on their needs and interests while building a house. Pranav and his family too had thought like this when they decided to build their dream abode in the 8-cent rectangular plot on the side of the main road in Thrippunithura. Even though they wished to include a gym, party area and guest parking, space constraints posed a major challenge. Besides, the soil was not so firm, making it difficult to build a sturdy foundation. The soil was made firmer by doing sand piling before constructing the foundation in the column footing method.

The family had different ideas and opinions about the design of the elevation. While one of them wanted a flat-box elevation another preferred truss roof. Finally, the elevation has been designed as a fine fusion of both styles. The ‘A’ frame roof paved with roofing sheet is the highlight of the elevation. Meanwhile, the roofing sheet looks like mud tiles at a glance, adding a touch of traditional elegance.

Designed in 3300 sqft, the house has a sit-out, formal and family living areas, dining space, patio, kitchen with work area, four bedrooms, bathrooms, gym and prayer area.

The interiors are designed in the classic white, grey and wooden theme. The custom-made furniture pieces complement the general theme of the house. Meanwhile, the flooring done using vitrified tiles looks chic.

The spacious dining hall designed with a double height ceiling is the highlight of the interiors. Besides looking incredibly vaster, this area also acts as a space that connects both the floors. The pergola skylight here brings in lots of sunshine, illuminating the interiors with golden rays.
There is a quaint pebble court near the staircase, done in a scintillating combination of quartz and glass.

The dining and kitchen areas are arranged in the semi open theme. A sturdy metal shelf partition is what separates these spaces. Meanwhile, the kitchen cabinets are made using plywood with laminate finish. The counter top has been paved with nano white.

The setback on the sides has been turned into a cosy patio adorned with a small Buddha figurine, water fountain and green lawn.
The designers have been able to build a fabulous house with all the modern amenities by catering to needs and likes of the family members.
