The excellent cross ventilation helps maintain a pleasant atmosphere inside the house.

Dr. Ali’s brand new house at Valancherry in Malappuram, Kerala, has become the talk of the town for its ‘intriguing’ patterns in the exteriors and the exuisite interiors. The mesmerizing house stands regally on a 20 cents plot that lies in layers. Architect Shajeeh of Crayon Architects deserves praise for coming up with such a smart design which perfectly suits the unique feature of the plot.

There are lanes in the front and the back of the house. So, the elevation has been designed in a way which facilitates amazing view of the house from both the sides. The box shaped designs, in multiple layers, is a unique designer feature of the exteriors. A singular box-styled feature on the second storey is in fact a bedroom.

This stunning house, in 5000 sq ft, has a car porch, sit out, formal and family living areas, dining space, pantry and main kitchens, six bedrooms and a swimming pool.

A ramp leads to the entrance of the house and the car porch is situated adjacent to the ramp. The space above the car porch has been turned into a sitting space, decorated with beautiful plants to make it livelier. The ground floor is designed in double height which makes the interiors look vast and spacious.

An exclusive ‘L’-shaped sofa is the highlight of the formal living area, designed in double height. The stairway also acts as a partition between the living and the dining areas. Designed in the cantilever style, the stairway extends to the top most floor of the house. Handrails, done in a beautiful blend of MS tubes and mahogany are an eye-catching feature.

The white glass top is the most striking feature of the dining table which can comfortably accommodate eight persons. A wall here has been highlighted using teak wood claddings. A quaint side courtyard, adjacent to this, is a charming feature. Natural light enters the house in abundance through the glass skylight. Glass walls separate the main courtyard where indoor plants have been arranged for a touch of greenery.

Natural materials are mostly used for furnishing in this house. Teak wood claddings are pasted on the exterior walls. Similarly, timber from mahogany is used on pillars, handrails, paneling and for furniture. Vitrified tiles are paved on the floor in all the common areas. Meanwhile, wooden tiles are used in the deck space and in the bedrooms.

There are three bedrooms on the ground floor, two bedrooms on the first floor and another one on the second floor, which projects as a prominent feature of the house. The ceiling of the bedroom on the second floor isn’t plastered and has been retained with a unique cement finish.

There is a working kitchen besides the pantry kitchen. The cupboards here are made using wood plastic composite and mica finish. Nano white is paved on the counter top.

The excellent cross ventilation helps maintain a pleasant atmosphere inside the house. The house looks breath taking when the highlighter lamps in the exteriors are switched on at twilight.
