Vincy Aloysius became darling of the TV audience with her charming performances in the superhit reality show Nayika Nayakan which was aired on Mazhavil Manorama. A native of Ponnani in Malappuram, Vincy lives with her father Aloysius, a driver and Sony, a home maker. She has an elder brother Vipin who works abroad. Vincy gets candid about her most memorable moments associated with her home and also about her dream dwelling.
Vincy has fond memories of her father’s ancestral home in Ponnani. A small, single storied house with a roof paved with mud tiles, the house had an area of 1500 sq ft. The reality show star says that one has to reach the entrance of that house by climbing a flight of steps from the road. It was a joint family and Vincy had a great time having fun with her nine cousins. During the holidays, all the cousins would gather at the place and enjoy so much.
The unfinished house
“Eighteen years ago we moved out of my father’s ancestral home and began constructing a house of our own. Our family was not financially well off. So we built it over the years, in parts, according to the availability of money. Walls were built with red bricks first and the roof was plastered. After that we began to live in it. Later, an additional floor was built and the house was furnished and white washed. We could only complete this far in all these years. The house still needs a bit more touch up. The house in which I live has grown along with me. So I share an emotional bond with it,” reveals Vincy.
Architecture and acting
Vincy opens up that her family had planned to marry her off after she completed her graduation as they weren't financially sound to send her for higher studies. The youngster was interested in paintings from childhood. Having scored good marks in plus two, Vincy opted for architecture for her graduation. As part of her syllabus, she did clay modeling and loved to decorate interiors using acrylic – texture paint. She believed that choosing architecture for graduation was one of the best decisions in her life.
“I contracted chicken pox while on a trip to North India from college. I saw the advertisement calling applications for Nayika Nayikan, on TV, while I locked myself up in my room at home due to the illness. I applied even though I wasn’t hopeful about being called for the audition. Anyways, I got the opportunity and was appreciated well. I still am amazed and surprised at what happened after that. I am interested in following architecture as a profession while continuing acting as my passion,” noted Vincy.
Dream home
Being a student of architecture Vincy has many ideas, which are unique and special, for her dream home. “I am not really fond of luxurious houses. If in the future, after getting married, I build a house, it would have an interior courtyard and open spaces. It will be a house made in the traditional architectural style, with ample supply of natural light and fresh air. Like most Keralites, these are my dreams about a home,” Vincy signs off.
