As you drive through Negros Occidental province in the Philippines, you will encounter a rooster standing 34.93 meters (114 feet 7 inches), surrounded by smaller buildings. This massive structure, an architectural marvel shaped like a rooster, has already secured the record for being the "world's largest chicken-themed building." The structure, listed in the Guinness Book of World Records, is 40 feet wide and 92 feet long. Inside, it houses 15 rooms, equipped like a luxurious hotel with air-conditioning, large beds, televisions, and showers. This rooster building is part of the Campuestohan Highland Resort.
The creation is the brainchild of the resort's director, Ricardo Cano Gwapo Tan, who desired a uniquely shaped building within the estate. He drew inspiration from the province's gamefowl industry, which provides livelihoods for millions, believing a building resembling a fighting cock would be a fitting tribute. Thus, the building took shape, mirroring a rooster with its comb and long legs.
Each part of the building replicates the colours of a real rooster. Construction began in June 2023 and was completed in 14 months. In September of this year, the "rooster building" earned its place in the Guinness Book of World Records. While planning and construction were relatively smooth, the building process posed challenges. Concerns arose about the building's stability, particularly its ability to withstand the region's frequent thunderstorms and cyclones.
However, overcoming all obstacles, the building was completed. Pictures of the Rooster Building have gone viral on social media, drawing praise for its accurate depiction of a rooster. However, some express concern about the stability of a building standing on relatively small legs due to its rooster shape.
