Kannur: A court here on Friday ordered a probe against Congress leader and former Kerala minister K.C. Joseph in a case related to amassing wealth disproportionate to know sources of income.
The complaint is that Joseph acquired Rs 18 lakh more than the known income during his tenure as a minister in the Oommen Chandy cabinet.
The Vigilance court at Thalassery ordered the Kerala Vigilance and Anti-corruption Bureau to conduct a probe into the complaint and submit report before November 29. Kozhikode vigilance DySP is in charge of the probe.
The petition was filed by one A.K. Shaji, a native of Perinkari in Iritty. The complainant had cited the contradictions in the affidavits submitted by Joseph along with nominations for assembly elections in 2011 and 2016.
Though a quick verification was conducted into the complaint, the probe report was against the complaint.
However, the court on Friday ordered to conduct a detailed probe by examining the assets of Joseph's family members too.
