» Senior lawyer MK Damodaran appeared for former Kerala finance minister KM Mani in the high court on Wednesday.
» Damodaran appealed to the HC to quash vigilance cases against Mani that charged him of giving tax breaks to poultry farmers and an ayurvedic medicine manufacturer, thereby causing an alleged loss of Rs 200 crore to the state.
» Damodaran had earlier appeared against the LDF government in several cases including for lottery baron Santiago Martin. This had irked many within the CPM and V.S. Achuthanandan had questioned the ethics behind this.
» Damodaran was offered the post of legal adviser to the chief minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, by the LDF government but he opted out of the ceremonial post after Achuthanandan's criticism.
» It's interesting to note that Damodaran, known to be a confidant of Pinarayi, once again appeared against the government in a case that was revived by the vigilance after LDF came to power in Kerala.
