Perumbavoor: The Kerala government on Saturday handed over the house built for the family of Jisha, the slain dalit law student, to her mother Rajeswari.

Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan handed over the key to Rajeswari at a function around 3.00 pm. The house has been named Jisha Bhavanam after the victim, as per her mother's wish.

The house, located on a five-cent plot along Alippadam-Canal Bund Road at Kuruppampadi, was built at a cost of Rs 11.5 lakh.

The construction was carried out by Nirmiti Kendra under the supervision of Ernakulam district collector M.G. Rajamanickam.

Rajeswari and her daughter Deepa will move in to the house on Saturday itself. Rajeswari was admitted to Perumbavoor Taluk Hospital after Jisha was found brutally murdered at her house.

Police have arrested Ameer ul-Islam, an Assam native, in connection with the case.
