Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala BJP leader K. Surendrean was at the receiving end of social media backlash after he commented that Tamil Nadu politics is set for a sea change after chief minister J. Jayalalithaa's death.
In a Facebook post hours before Jaya breathed her last in Chennai, Surendrean said that Dravidian politics in Tamil Nadu that was seeped in 'hero worship' and 'regionalism' would hopefully now fall in line with national politics. He added that it was unlikely that the AIADMK would grow under O Pannerselvam's leadership.
However, the post was flayed on social media platforms with many accusing him for waiting for her death.
But unperturbed by these comments, Surendran returned to the social media to answer his critics.
He said that he was aware of Jaya's political strength but questioned what was the problem in asking about her successor? “Aren't the critics disturbed by similar discussions being conducted by media? What others say tomorrow, I would like to say yesterday,” Surendran wrote on Facebook on Tuesday. He ended the post, saying - “Rest in Peace, Jayalalithaa, who was the Amma for all.”
