Ingredients
1 cup wheat powder
½ cup grated coconut
2 tsp sugar
½ tsp yeast
2 tbsp rice powder
Salt
Lukewarm water
Preparation
Mix wheat powder, rice powder and salt
Pour lukewarm water to it
Mix into batter without any lumps
Pour this into the mixer jar
Add grated coconut, sugar and yeast
Blend well
Transfer the batter into a bowl
Take some hot water in a vessel
Place the bowl with the batter in the water
Keep it aside for half an hour to an hour depending upon the temperature in the room
The batter will now rise
Heat the appam chatty (curved pan) on medium flame
Pour a ladle full of batter
Rotate the pan and spread the batter
Place the lid and cook the palappam until it's edges turn golden.
